In my wildest dreams I never imagined an existing scenery nearly similar to this site. A rocky 5 hour drive from Windhoek to the South with our 4×4. The deserted land and colors change, shifting from greys to charcoals to terracottas and oranges. The arrival takes your breath away.
Nestled on the Southern edge of the Namib desert in the Hardap region within an extraordinary nature reserve, SONOP, Zannier Hotel’s latest addition is created in the form of a luxurious tented camp in a spirit of British colonial design reminding of the romance of exotic travels. The hotel is constructed on top of hundreds of massive miraculously stagged granite boulders which are the result of ancient volcanic eruptions, since polished and hollowed out by millions of years of weathering and typical of the local geography. At SONOP you are transported into a gone by era living the life of wealthy explorers from the early 20th century. My shoot starts at sunrise over the untouched, endless landscapes as far as eyes can see and beyond. Utopia in its purest sense.
