The prestigious 5-star hotel L’Arlatan is located in the historic centre of Arles, leaning against one of the ancient walls of the Constantine Spa.
This ancient classical hotel was purchased in 2015 by collector and patron Maja Hoffmann, who intended to renovate it and to offer high-standard hotel services before the opening of her foundation, Luma, designed hand in hand with famous architect Franck Gehry. The city of Arles is renowned for its outstanding Roman heritage, its artists and photographers, as well as for its proximity to the natural landscapes of the Camargue region. Maja Hoffmann entrusted the renovation project to Cuban-American designer Jorge Pardo. 15th-century galleries, old-time beams and joists, 17th-century fireplaces, 10-meter-high Roman walls, … All those historic elements are updated and highlighted to give the hotel a unique touch. The floors are also worth a mention: they are covered with two million varnished terra cotta elements over a range of eighteen colours. The various buildings, whose central part is registered as a Historic Monument, are organized around a beautiful patio, a majestic staircase with laced metal and several lovely lounges.
