Reminiscent of a by-gone era and enveloped under canvas, Gmundner Lodge which will be part of my upcoming book GREEN NAMIBIA welcomes to relish the slow, unhurried pace of life in the wilderness. Thoughtfully designed for lazy afternoon aperitifs or post-safari tipples, the heart of the lodge is drenched in safari nostalgia, featuring handcrafted campaign furniture and inviting lounge spaces scattered with antique safari curiosities, telescopes and binoculars. To make the most of the exquisite natural setting, the lodge’s billowing canvas exteriors roll away to unveil sweeping views of the dramatic landscape and passing wildlife outside. Here, cloud-like sunbeds surround the sparkling infinity pool for a cool reprieve from the heat of the day, poised at the edge of the deck to capture spectacular sunset horizons. At nightfall, the lodge transforms under the warm glow of flickering lanterns and candlelight to reveal an unimaginable deep onyx sky, splashed with stars best admired from the expansive deck or around the boma’s fire.
