The Swiss watch and jewellery expert Bucherer inhabits a prominent location near the Binnenalster Lake, right on the Jungfernstieg promenade: Hamburg’s top address. A new interior design by the Stuttgart-based planning office blocher partners employs shades of blue, copper and wood to reflect the Hanseatic city’s maritime atmosphere and give a local touch to the store concept, which was developed by blocher partners back in 2010 and has been gently refined over the ensuing years.
No sooner do they cross the threshold of this Swiss watch and jewellery house, than visitors encounter a world of timeless elegance and style: The spacious, brightly lit spaces on the ground floor are divided by marble portals that decrease in size towards the back, allowing for private sales consultations. The Swiss jeweller’s own timepieces are presented here together with an exclusive selection of Rolex watches. Ceiling-high, copper-coloured panels frame the shop windows, giving the rooms a Moorish character. The Bucherer trademark, interpreted as a figure-eight knot, is etched onto the surface of the panels, whose aesthetic structure beautifully reflects natural light.

Whitewashed ash slatting covers the nearly four-meter-high walls along which the stone staircase climbs to the first floor. Daylight pours in through floor-to-ceiling windows; the view of the Alster is spectacular. Curtains and walls of silk in light blue tones caress the rooms in the Bucherer Fine Jewellery and Fine Romance departments. Private rooms with seating niches allow customers to linger and also provide space for confidential sales consultations.
The adjoining CPO area contains a carefully curated selection of pre-owned watches, including rare models and limited editions. Ceiling lights featuring brass plates pick up on the theme of sea travel. Another element found on all levels of the store is the mid-space furnishing of blue lapis, which reflects the Bucherer identity colour and adds yet another extravagant touch.
