On production with Jan Kath in Nepal.
Rug knotting has now become the main industry in the breathtaking himalaya state NEPAL and since a couple of years Kathmandu became the hotspot of fair trade contemporary rug art.
Jan Kath, the world’s coolest rug trendsetter whose carpets can be found everywhere in the homes of Arabian royalty, in the villas of rock stars in private suites at the “Four Seasons” in Cairo, on the luxury yachts of oil conglomerates, and in the showrooms of important Parisian fashion labels has hit the nerves of the time due to his award-winning design pieces.
In this photodocumentary in Nepal JAN KATH took me personally into undiscovered parts of the vibrant capital, its temples and straight into the phantastic colorful knotting factories of his prosperous business where the best carpets of the worlds are all hand – knotted.
