doc’s office | berlin | batekarchitects

The CAR 07 project comprises the renovation and outfitting of an ear, nose and throat practice in Berlin. The surgery is located in a 150-square-metre former apartment in an old building in the district of Charlottenburg. The goal of the project was to rearrange the floorplan to incorporate an additional consultation room and gain more space for treatments. Moreover, the style of the rooms should have a comfortable, dignified atmosphere with a 1930s touch.
The heart of the practice is now a new, open-plan reception area which joins the new waiting area and additional consultation room. The colour and material concept, as per the client’s wishes, steers clear of the usual cool sterile surgery interior. The warm, light and dark grey tones of the walls, floors and fitted cabinets are balanced with materials such as brass, dark-stained oak and cognac-coloured leather.
The walls of the practice are hung with artworks from the client’s own private collection. Together with the interior they create an elegant and genteel ambience of cosy calm that we know from apartments, bars and hotels of the 1930s.
