What triggers the traveller in you?
An idyllic beach on a faraway island? Shopping for rare treasures in an ancient city or a spiritual picnic in the Himalayas?
I opted for the last.. !
Considered as one of the most spiritually and mentally uplifting places in the world the Himalayas can be easily described as a place where god resides. Back to the mountains! Here a few images of The Kumaon, India, a stylish, yet simple design and architectural mountain resort in Uttarakhand with stunning views over the snowy Nanda Devi Mountain range. A blend of both modern and traditional, The Kumaon was designed by Sri Lankan architect Pradeep Kodikara, and Jineshi Samaraweera of Zowa Architects, inspired by the iconic master Geoffrey Bawa. Ten pretty cottages in warm color palettes built out of local materials only, equipped with a cozy fireplaces and huge private balconies are spread over a few hectars of a stunning hillside estate with a breathtaking cantilevered floating dining room and lush vegetation around. Loved the sustainable copper and brass dishes being used to serve fresh filtered water and delicious thalis. Pretty close to heaven.
